Virus & Malware Removal
If your device has been running slowly or has been experiencing strange symptoms, there is a possibility that it could be infected with malware. Some common examples of malware are the following
Ransomware
Symptoms:
the device appears “hijacked” with warning message telling the user to pay money unless there will be consequences.
The device can be completely unusable whilst it is infected.
Adware
Symptoms:
Unwanted pop-ups may appear on the device even though the user never clicked on anything.
The device may become unusable due to the constant pop-ups.
Trojan
Symptoms:
Trojans infect a computer through a seemingly harmless download of a file onto a device.
Due to this the device may become slow or unresponsive for seemingly no reason.
Spyware
Symptoms:
Spyware may not necessarily display noticeable symptoms on the device.
It does however collect various bits of personal information that the user has on the device and can send it to malicious third parties.
Virus & Malware Removal Process
Outlined below is the typical process for a Virus & Malware removal service
Determine the type of malware
The first step is to determine what type of malware has infected the device. We can usually determine this by the symptoms listed above.
Book the service for the cleanup
Once we know the type of malware we are dealing with, we can then determine what kind of service will be required to fix the problem. This will either be a service done onsite or at our workshop.
Perform a full clean of the device
We check every part of the Operating System and every program and application on the device along with running anti-virus and anti-virus software on the device to clean every remaining trace of the infection.
We can also assist with installing anti-virus software onto the device to prevent future infections.
Providing a certificate of completion for the service
In the case you may need to provide an organisation like you bank with a certificate of completion for the clean, we can provide this for you once the service is finished.
Important Information
If possible, it is highly beneficial to backup your important data on you device before we proceed with service both as a preventative measure in case of further infections and to be used in the case where an infection is serious enough that a fresh install of the Operating System is required.
If you a unsure of how to backup your data, please let us know as we would be happy to do the backup as part of the service. We can also assist in setting up an automated backup solution for you.
