Computer Servicing & Upgrading
If your computer is staring to run slowly it can be due to a number of reasons. Some of the most common reasons for a computer running slowly are listed below
A Slow or Faulty Hard Drive
The Hard Drive (HDD) is the component of the computer which stores data such as the Operating System and user data. It is essential to the computer and if it starts to slow down then so will everything else to do with the computer.
Luckily these components can be replaced with a faster type of storage drive called a Solid State Drive (SSD) which is a cost effective way of increasing the performance of an otherwise slowing computer.
A lack of Random Access Memory (RAM)
If you tend to use a lot of performance hungry programs and find your computer is running sluggishly this may be due to the amount of RAM being too small to keep up with the programs running on the computer.
Fortunately modern computers make it quite simple to upgrade the RAM modules inside by either increasing the amount of RAM installed into the computer or by replacing what is inside the computer with larger RAM modules.
A lack of storage space or having too many programs
If your computer has been running slowly it could be due to a lack of storage space. This can occur due to having too many programs or files on the computer.
Removing these sound simple enough however, in some cases, some files can lurk out of site on an Operating System taking up space and may not be easy to find and remove off of the computer.
This is where a computer service and tune-up can be beneficial as we can find what is taking up storage space and clean it up for you.
A build up of dust
It sounds like a cliché but it is in fact true that a build up of dust and debris in a laptop or desktop tower can in fact slow down a computer. Dust and debris can cause the fans and heatsinks in the computer to not work correctly which can in turn cause the computer to overheat and slow down.
We can fix this by blowing out the dust from your computer and cleaning the fans and exhausts.
Our Servicing & Upgrading Process
When we book in a device for a check-up we will always check and give you a status report of the following items
